The Utah Senate has started a nice tradition this year in which it honors institutions or individuals for being number one in their field. The idea was the brainchild of Senate President Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville.

Cottonwood Heights police are looking for a man who allegedly stole wallets from patrons of local 24 Hour Fitness gyms, then used the stolen cash and credit cards to buy high-end electronics from area Target and Best Buy stores. A troubled man whose fear of reprisal for his undercover role in an artifact-trafficking probe prompted him to sleep with a gun, and whose heavy drinking landed him in the hospital this winter, apparently shot himself to death this week at his Salt Lake County home.
